They Are Coming Home
On October 13, all twenty living hostages come home after more than two years in captivity.
- A ceasefire takes effect; Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher are the first to return, and in the first phase of the agreement thirty-three hostages, living and dead, are returned in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
- Yuval Raphael, a survivor of the massacre at the Nova music festival, finishes second at the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel and first in the public vote.
- A twelve-day war with Iran, during which Israel and the United States strike Iranian nuclear facilities; Iranian missiles kill dozens of people in Israel, and in Iran, according to the authorities there, more than nine hundred are killed.
- Under an agreement to end the war, all twenty living hostages come home, Israel releases some two thousand Palestinian prisoners and detainees, and President Donald Trump addresses the Knesset.
