Counting the Days

The war expands to several fronts, and in Operation Arnon four hostages come home.

  1. Iran attacks Israel directly for the first time with hundreds of drones and missiles; the vast majority are intercepted with the help of the United States and other countries.
  2. In Operation Arnon, four hostages are rescued from Nuseirat: Noa Argamani, Almog Meir Jan, Andrey Kozlov and Shlomi Ziv; police officer Arnon Zmora of the Yamam counter-terrorism unit falls in the operation, and many Palestinians, including civilians, are also killed in the fighting in the area.
  3. Windsurfer Tom Reuveny wins a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
  4. A ceasefire with Hezbollah takes effect after more than a year of fighting on the northern border.
