Beresheet to the Moon

The Beresheet spacecraft reaches the Moon, and Israel hosts Europe at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv.

  1. Elections to the Twenty-first Knesset; after no government is formed, the Knesset dissolves.
  2. The Beresheet spacecraft, built by SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries, crashes during its attempted landing on the Moon, but Israel becomes the seventh country to orbit the Moon.
  3. The Eurovision Song Contest is held at Expo Tel Aviv.
  4. A second Knesset election in the same year, for the first time in the country's history.
