Pillar of Defense, Iron Dome

During Operation Pillar of Defense, Iron Dome intercepts hundreds of rockets, and sirens sound in Tel Aviv as well.

  1. An attack on a bus carrying Israeli tourists in Burgas, Bulgaria; five Israelis and the Bulgarian driver are killed.
  2. The IDF launches Operation Pillar of Defense in the Gaza Strip, and rockets are fired as far as the Tel Aviv and Jerusalem areas.
  3. An Egyptian-brokered ceasefire takes effect, ending the operation; six Israelis and about one hundred and seventy Palestinians were killed during it.
