The Disengagement

Israel evacuates its communities in the Gaza Strip and northern Samaria as part of the disengagement plan.

  1. Shiri Maimon finished fourth at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with the song "HaSheket SheNish'ar".
  2. Under the disengagement plan, twenty-one communities in the Gaza Strip and four in northern Samaria were evacuated.
  3. The last IDF soldiers left the Gaza Strip, completing the disengagement.
  4. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon left the Likud and founded a new party, Kadima.
