Sealed Rooms, Operation Solomon

In the year Scud missiles fall on Israeli cities, more than fourteen thousand Ethiopian Jews are flown to Israel in less than two days.

  1. During the Gulf War, Iraq began firing Scud missiles at Israel; Israelis sat in sealed rooms wearing gas masks.
  2. In Operation Solomon, 14,325 Jews from Ethiopia were flown to Israel within about thirty-six hours.
  3. The Madrid Peace Conference opened, launching direct talks between Israel and its Arab neighbors and Palestinian representatives.
