A Decade of Statehood

Israel celebrated ten years of independence, and the Knesset enacted the first Basic Law.

  1. The Knesset enacts Basic Law: The Knesset, the state's first Basic Law.
  2. The tenth Independence Day is celebrated across the country, centered on an IDF parade in Jerusalem.
  3. Amos Hakham of Jerusalem wins the National Bible Contest, and two weeks later also the first International Bible Contest, held in Jerusalem.
