Withdrawal and a Way to the Sea

The IDF completed its withdrawal from Sinai and the Gaza Strip, and shipping to Eilat opened.

  1. The IDF completes its withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, after leaving Sinai; a United Nations Emergency Force deploys in the area.
  2. The Fifth Maccabiah Games open.
  3. Heichal HaTarbut (the Culture Hall) is inaugurated in Tel Aviv.
  4. A hand grenade is thrown into the Knesset plenum; Prime Minister Ben-Gurion and other ministers are wounded.
