The First Knesset and the Ink Flag

Israel elected its first Knesset, signed the armistice agreements and was admitted to the United Nations.

  1. The first elections to the Constituent Assembly, which became the First Knesset.
  2. Israel and Egypt sign an armistice agreement in Rhodes, the first in a series of agreements with Israel's neighbors.
  3. Fighters of the Negev Brigade reach Umm Rashrash, today Eilat, and raise the improvised "Ink Flag".
  4. Israel is admitted as a member of the United Nations.
